Together, our research facilities enhance research capacity and ensure scientific excellence at every level.

Animal Care Facility

Animal Care Facility (ACF)

Meharry’s Animal Care Facility (ACF) pursues the maintenance of an enriched, variable-free, secure and humane environment for our animal subjects, as well as superb customer service for our research clients.

Bioinformatics Core

Bioinformatics Core (BIN)

The Bioinformatics Core provides advanced computational biology support for the analysis, integration, and interpretation of complex biomedical data.

Biostatistics

Biostatistics Core (BST)

The Biostatistics sub-core (BST) provides statistical support and services using cutting-edge statistical methods and software to all Meharry faculty, staff and students engaged in research as well as collaborators outside Meharry Medical College.

Community Engagement Core (CEC)

The Community Engagement Core (CEC) fosters meaningful collaboration between Meharry researchers and community members or organizations to address health inequities and improve outcomes in populations experiencing the poorest health.

Researcher using Seahorse analysis

Energy Metabolisms Core (EMC)

The EMC Core provides Seahorse analysis services for an established fee and additionally offers scientific and technical consultation, including collaborative interpretation of results.

Gene Editing, BSL3 and Flow Cytometry Core

The Gene Editing Core (GEE), Biosafety Level 3 Core (BSL), and Flow Cytometry Core (FLO) provide researchers with advanced technologies, secure facilities, and expert guidance to support cutting-edge biomedical research. Together, these cores enable precise genome engineering, high-containment infectious disease studies, and in-depth cellular analysis.

Fluorescence Microscopy Nobelle

Genomics Data Core (GEN)

The Genomics Data Core (GENOD) provides state-of-the-art, comprehensive next-generation sequencing (NGS)-focused services, multi-level professional training, and consultation to support basic, clinical and translational research

Proteomics Core (PRO)

The Proteomics and Protein Analysis Core (PRO) provides comprehensive bottom-up proteomic services on the Orbitrap platform with optional MudPIT, isobaric tag labeling (SILAC or TMT/iTRAQ), and PTM analysis.

Retinal Imaging

The Retinal Imaging Core provides advanced in vivo imaging and functional assessment tools to support vision science research. It enables high-resolution visualization and quantification of retinal structure and function in small animal models, particularly mice and rats.
