The Meharry Genomics Data Core (GENOD) provides state-of-the-art, comprehensive next-generation sequencing (NGS)-focused services, multi-level professional training, and consultation to support basic, clinical, and translational research.

Services:

  1. NGS data analysis, including analyses of whole genome sequencing (WGS), whole exome sequencing (WES), whole transcriptome sequencing (RNA-seq), Chromatin immunoprecipitation followed by sequencing (ChIP-seq), single-cell sequencing, targeted sequencing data, and assembly and analysis of long-read sequencing data, etc.
  2. Other NGS-related services, such as gene set enrichment analysis, machine learning and applications, databases, novel data processing pipelines, and software development to enable innovative research designs.
  3. Consultation on NGS study design, grant proposal development, and NGS education and training.
  4. Amplicon-based or targeted NGS, whole-genome NGS, or metagenomics (mNGS).

Equipment:

  1. Dell Optiplex Windows 11 13th Gen Intel® Core™N i7-13700 (30 MB cache, 16 cores, 24 threads, 2.1 O GHz -5.10 GHz Turbo, 65 W) dedicated workstation running Linux Operating System.
  2. Oxford Nanopore (ONT) MinIon Next Generation Sequencer (long-read)
  3. Illumina MiniSeq (short-read)
This is in conjunction with the Meharry Medical College Consolidated Clinical Labs (MMCCCL) headed by Dr. Sanford Barsky. For scheduling NGS runs on the MiniSeq, please contact Franklin Nouvet, fnouvet@mmc.edu (general lab manager), Atanu Khatua, PhD (molecular lab supervisor); or Dr. Sanford Barsky, sbarsky@mmc.edu, (Clinical Director/Chair of Pathology)
