MMC English Language Policy
Adequate proficiency of spoken and written English is essential to success in graduate study, and medical residency training at Meharry Medical College. Applicants who are non-native English speakers can demonstrate English proficiency by one of the following English language proficiency tests:
Test results/scores are to be sent directly to Meharry Medical College from the testing service.
Required English Proficiency Score:
100 and above with each section scores of at minimum 25

ECFMG applicants must attain a minimum score of 350 on each of the four measured sub-tests of OET Medicine (Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking) in one test administration.
For Graduate Medical Education applicants invited to interview, submit English language proficiency scores to the program coordinator at Meharry Medical College.
Please note, English language proficiency tests are only valid for two years after the test date.
Graduate School students, SACS students, School of Global Health students, School of Medicine students & residents, and School of Dentistry students & residents who perform work pursuant to their studies, or residency programs may be required to take an English language proficiency test if they are non-native English Speakers, and if fluency in English is necessary for the effective performance of the position.
