Procedures for Requesting Accommodations

Step 1: Schedule an Intake Meeting with SAO

Schedule a private intake meeting to discuss your specific accessibility needs. Bring any documentation that supports your request. During the meeting, SAO will provide you with individual guidance on the next steps.

Step 2: Complete Accessibility Documentation

You must complete the necessary accessibility documentation before SAO can formally consider and process your request for accommodations. Your provider(s) may have to verify the information within the documentation.

Step 3: Accommodation Determination

If SAO determines that your requested accommodations are reasonable, we will work with all appropriate campus personnel to implement them. SAO will issue an accommodation letter after approval. The accommodation letter does not disclose disability; rather, it outlines the approved accommodations and how faculty, staff, and/or campus administrators should implement them.

Conversely, SAO may deny the requested accommodation. You may appeal eligibility or accommodation decisions by submitting a written request to the ADA Specialist at studentaccessibility@mmc.edu within seven (7) business days of the original decision. The Student Accommodations Appeal Committee will review your appeal submission.

Note: Accommodations are not retroactive, and implementation timelines may vary depending on the nature of the accommodation request.
