Geographic Information Systems and Visualization Lab
Eugene Levin, Ph.D. CP
Professor, Spatial Data Science
The Geographic Information Systems and Visualization Lab applies geospatial and remote sensing data modeling to health care. Faculty explore coverage gaps in population health, climate change effects, and develop algorithms that provide insights and innovative solutions that lead to improved health outcomes, increase accessibility to health care, and healthier communities.
In keeping with the SACS class/lab vision, the lab supports projects and other material for the classes MSBD 545 GIS for Health Informatics and MSBD 565 GIS Algorithms and Programming in Heath informatics.
The lab includes several UAVs, 3D printers, Matterport -2, and a Building Information Model (BIM) acquisition system. Those resources power GIS, remote sensing, digital twins, robotics, Internet of Things (IoT) and emerging visualization technologies such as virtual, augmented and mixed reality (VR/AR/MR).
