The Meharry Medical College School of Global Health (SGH) is pleased to introduce Lynn C. Todman, Ph.D., as Professor and Inaugural Chair of the Department of Population Health. Dr. Todman brings more than a decade of executive health equity leadership experience to SGH, most recently serving as Vice President of Health Impact and Strategy at Corewell Health, Michigan’s largest health system, encompassing 21 hospitals, 65,000 employees, a health plan, and $15 billion in annual revenue.
During her tenure at Corewell, Dr. Todman advanced the organization’s health equity vision, strategy, and implementation framework through a series of progressively senior leadership roles. Her impact included launching a 27,000-square-foot care delivery facility in an underserved healthcare desert and leading efforts to advance maternal health equity across communities throughout Michigan.
A nationally and internationally recognized thought leader, Dr. Todman is a talented presenter and scholar. In October 2025, she addressed the East Coast Chief Physicians Executive Summit, advising CEOs, CFOs, and physician leaders on advancing equity amid a complex political and cultural landscape.
Prior to her executive leadership at Corewell Health, Dr. Todman held teaching and research appointments at leading institutions globally, including the University of Milan, the KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Adler University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. A Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Culture of Health Leader, she has also served in numerous board and advisory capacities across higher education, healthcare, philanthropy, banking, government, and international development sectors.
Dr. Todman earned her Ph.D. and Master’s degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor of Arts from Wellesley College. We are honored to welcome Dr. Todman to SGH and look forward to the leadership, scholarship, and strategic vision she will bring to advancing population health and health equity.
