Alumni from across the country returned to campus to celebrate Meharry’s 150-year legacy while investing in its future through reunion giving and engagement.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 18, 2026) — Meharry Medical College alumni demonstrated their continued commitment to the institution’s mission and future by raising more than $1.4 million during the College’s Sesquicentennial Homecoming Reunion Weekend held May 13–17.
The milestone fundraising total reflects the generosity and dedication of reunion classes who returned to campus to reconnect with classmates, celebrate Meharry’s 150-year legacy and support the next generation of health care leaders.
Celebrating classes contributing to the reunion fundraising total included the Classes of 1941, 1951, 1961, 1966, 1971, 1976, 1981, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2001, 2006, 2011, 2016 and 2021, whose collective generosity helped make the Sesquicentennial Homecoming Reunion Weekend a historic success for Meharry Medical College.
A highlight of the weekend was the extraordinary generosity of the Class of 1976, which raised a record-breaking $500,648.28 during its 50th Reunion Class celebration. The milestone contribution marked one of the largest reunion class giving totals in Meharry’s recent history and reflected the class’s enduring commitment to advancing the College’s mission and supporting future generations of Meharrians.
“Homecoming Reunion Weekend is a celebration of our past and a powerful reflection of the belief our alumni continue to have in Meharry’s future,” said Juan A. McGruder, Ph.D., vice president of Institutional Advancement at Meharry Medical College. “The historic generosity shown by our reunion classes, especially the extraordinary leadership of the Class of 1976 during their 50th reunion celebration, demonstrates the lasting impact Meharry has on generations of alumni. Their support will help strengthen scholarships, expand opportunities for students and advance our mission of improving health outcomes in underserved communities for years to come.”
Throughout the week, alumni participated in reunion activities, class gatherings, campus tours, recognition ceremonies and signature events including the Alumni Circle celebration, the Rhythm of Music Party and the Charles E. Brown, M.C. ’60 Golf Tournament.
The reunion weekend highlighted Meharry’s longstanding tradition of service, leadership and philanthropy while reinforcing the goals of Campaign 150: Forever on the Path, the College’s historic $500 million capital campaign focused on advancing health equity, education, research and community impact.
