Application Process
Admission Requirements
Entering classes for the School of Medicine are admitted in the fall of each academic year. Due to the competitive nature of the admissions process, all applications are considered based on a holistic review process.
We encourage all interested applicants to submit their application and materials as early as possible and well in advance of deadlines.
Complete and submit an application through AMCAS
Submit transcripts.
Applicants will submit/upload transcripts via the application service.
Submit three letters of recommendation
These must be signed and on official letterhead. No more than four letters will be reviewed per applicant, per cycle. A committee letter can serve as a substitute for individual letters
Medical College of Admissions Test (MCAT)
Medical applicants and MHS/Medical track applicants must take the MCAT. Exams taken after December 15 of the application cycle will be considered at the sole discretion of the Admission Committee. MHS Medical track applicants must take the MCAT by January of the year of matriculation. Additionally, MCAT scores older than three years from the planned year of matriculation will not be considered for admission.
CASPER Test
Medical applicants are also expected to take the CASPER assessment and submit scores.
Complete and submit a Supplemental Application
This step is by invitation only.
The Office of Admissions and Recruitment will forward instructions to the applicant for completion of an electronic Supplemental Application.
Admissions Timeline
- June 1 – AMCAS application opens.
- July 1- SOM Admissions begin review of applications.
- August 1- Applications for Early Decision must be designated on AMCAS application and completed
- September-April Interview Season
- October 1- Early Decision candidates receive decision.
- December 15 AMCAS Application deadline
- February 19 AMCAS Choose Your Medical School tool opens with the “Plan to Enroll” option for Admitted Students
- April 30 AMCAS “Commit to Enroll” Opens on AMCAS. *Applicants holding multiple acceptances after April 30thmay have rescinded offers.
- Applicants that are committed to enrolling at another institution will withdraw your acceptance/waitlist offer.
*Note: initial deposits ($100) can be refunded upon request until April 30th. Any deposits made after April 30th are non-refundable.
- May 1 All Admitted students must withdraw from other institutions and submit proof of withdrawal. Students that are still holding a spot at another medical school and have not deposited or indicated that they plan to enroll will have their admissions decision rescinded. A
- Non-refundable enrollment/orientation deposit of $1500 is required.
- Accepted students are required to select “Commit to Enroll” option in AMCAS. Students that do not select this option will have the admissions offer rescinded.
- April-June Waitlisted applicants accepted must commit or plan within two business days and withdraw admission from all other schools. By June 1 applicants who plan to enroll must commit to enroll and immediately withdraw from waitlists at all other schools
- June- New Student Orientation
- June- Fall classes begin for first year students.
