Counseling and Well-being Services
Meharry’s Medical College Counseling and Well-being Services operates as a unit for the Division of Student Affairs. Counseling and Well-being Services was established to assist students with the balance of professional studies and personal issues to enhance their potential for high academic performance.
Professional health service providers, who have no affiliation with student teaching or class evaluation roles, provide confidential counseling with wellbeing services.

About Us
Our counselors are committed to providing counseling and well-being services through psychotherapy, cultural competence, consultation, wellness and preventative mental health services. Counseling and Well-being Services facilitate psychoeducational workshops while building a supportive college community to understand the importance of mental health awareness. Counseling and Well-being Services is dedicated to the growth and development as student-focused to create a safe environment to assist with student’s retention and graduation.
Appointments
Walk-Ins are welcome! To schedule an appointment or for inquiries about Counseling and Well-being Services, please contact us at 615.327.6915 or email counseling@mmc.edu. We offer in-person services during office hours or virtual therapy sessions that allow MMC students the flexibility to schedule appointments after office hours.
MMC students can self-schedule appointments and a consultation session with a counselor through single sign-in of the Student Information Portal.
Counseling and Psychological Emergency
For psychological emergencies, counselors are available for crisis assistance and consultation 24/7.
- On-call counselors are available after hours, on weekends, and holidays by calling 615.327.6915.
- Students can request to be seen immediately as a walk-in during regular business hours or call the Counseling and Well-being Services at 615.327.6915.
- In case of an emergency that requires police or emergency medical services, please call 911 or the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Outreach Request Form
We are glad to accept requests submitted by deans of schools, student organizations, faculty, and staff for presentations on the Counseling & Well-Being Services, stress management, burnout, responding to students in distress, etc. For inquiries about what type of trainings and presentations we can provide please email us at counseling@mmc.edu.
For meetings that cannot take place in person, we will work to provide virtual programming and services.
To request services, please complete the form by selecting the outreach request button below. Please Note: The Counseling & Well-Being Services requires a minimum of two weeks notice to consider requests. All requests will be screened by a staff member within one-to-two business days of the initial request. Approval of requests are contingent upon scheduling, availability of staff, and type of request submitted.
