Meharry Medical College has trained medical students and residents at remote clinical sites throughout its almost 150-year history, and the medical community of Memphis has always welcomed our learners. Because of the support of our invaluable partners, we have been able to continue providing quality medical education in this city.

Building on this collaboration, the purpose of our partnerships has broadened over time to address the community’s health-related needs. Lingering healthcare disparities in underserved populations of Memphis compounded by gaps in the physician workforce has motivated our commitment to align with area stakeholders.

We believe our longstanding track record of caring for similar communities in Nashville has made us well-suited to stand beside our local partners to promote healthier outcomes. Therefore, Meharry has established this Memphis-based clinical academic site to expand opportunities to educate our trainees in caring for the underserved, to encourage their consideration of this city for their career home, to cultivate research collaborations, and to inspire youth from underrepresented communities to pursue health science careers.

On June 9, 2025, we were excited to welcome to the Inaugural Futures in Health Sciences Summer Program high school students who would be entering their 10th-12th grade year. Our program was tailored to expose students who come from communities that are underrepresented in the health science field to this diverse career path.

The Midtown Campus of Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church is the home of the Meharry Office of Memphis Programs. The BLVD seeks to be a partner in overcoming the health disparities that plague the city of Memphis and help increase the number of Black physicians who serve this community. The BLVD is excited to partner with Meharry and “make disciples who share the limitless love of God.”
