Research Day
Join us in celebrating discovery and innovation at our Annual Research Day, hosted by the Office for Research and Innovation. This signature event has grown larger and more dynamic, spotlighting the exceptional work of our students and postdoctoral fellows. Explore our 70+ educational and award-winning poster presentations that highlight the breadth and impact of healthcare research taking place across Meharry.
Informative and engaging speakers such as Glenn Ellis, (h.c.) MPH, CHCE, FCPP, owner of Strategies for Well-Being, LLC, spoke last spring about the significance of bioethics as a necessary and vital foundation when crafting research studies. Keynote speaker Thirumala-Devi Kanneganti, Ph.D., director of the Center of Excellence for Innate Immunity & Inflammation at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, shared results from her research involving innate immunity, inflammation, and cell death. Meharry’s own Dr. Leah Alexander, professor and MPH program chair of the Department of Public Health in the School of Global Health, spoke about the vast resources available to help Meharry scientists become more engaged with the community.
Students and post-docs shared their research results with everyone, answering participants’ questions about their poster and oral presentations. Awards were presented to those students and post-docs who excelled in their work.
