Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Medical Student Radiology Symposium held in November 2025 brought together medical students from across the region for a full day of learning, collaboration, and hands-on exploration of radiology. Meharry’s Interventional Radiology Interest Group (IRIG), Radiology Interest Group (RIG), and Vanderbilt University collaborated on the symposium.
Residency program directors offered students valuable insight into career pathways, training expectations, and the future of radiology. Interactive workshops led by radiology faculty, residents, and fellows gave participants practical exposure to both diagnostic and interventional techniques. “Seeing students connect with residents and attendings, work through cases, and stay engaged all day really showed how much interest there is in radiology and why this event should continue for years to come” said M2 student Oren Edrich.
“After medical school I plan to pursue Vascular Interventional Radiology,” he said. Edrich said one of the highlights of the day was a spirited game of Radiology Jeopardy, where students worked in teams to test their imaging knowledge in a fun, competitive setting. Breakout sessions in Neuroradiology, Diagnostic Radiology, and Interventional Radiology allowed attendees to explore subspecialties in greater depth while engaging directly with experts in each area.
Attendees said the symposium exemplified meaningful collaboration across institutions and disciplines, reinforcing a shared commitment to medical education and career development. Organizers said they look forward to building on this momentum and continuing the Tennessee Medical Student Radiology Symposium for years to come.
