NASHVILLE, TN., May 28, 2025 – The School of Global Health at Meharry Medical College proudly announces the appointment of Loyce Pace, MPH, as a Professor of Global Health and a Founding Advisory Board member. A champion for health equity and human rights, Ms. Pace brings more than 25 years of experience in global health policy, leadership, and diplomacy to this new role.

Dawes, JD, Founding Dean of the School of Global Health and Senior Vice President of Global Health at Meharry Medical College. “Her extraordinary career in advancing equity and justice in health systems worldwide perfectly aligns with our mission to develop visionary leaders who are committed to catalyzing solutions to our most pressing and complex health challenges.”
“This is a homecoming for me, having roots in Tennessee. I’ve always felt called to give back and lift up those traveling a similar path, as others before me have modeled so well. Now more than ever we must equip new leaders with the practical tools to stand firm in our objective to advance health equity,” said Loyce Pace, MPH.
Ms. Pace currently serves as Regional Director for the Americas at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), where she leads operations across 35 countries. Prior to that, she served as Assistant Secretary for Global Affairs at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. There, she led the nation’s international health engagement and represented the United States in high-level negotiations and global forums including the G7, G20, United Nations, and World Health Organization.
Known for her bold advocacy and collaborative spirit, Ms. Pace has also served as President and Executive Director of the Global Health Council, Executive Advisor at the LIVESTRONG Foundation, and in global roles with the American Cancer Society and Catholic Relief Services. Her work spans five continents and numerous health priorities—from pandemic preparedness to access to essential medicines, from gender equity to climate and health.
At Meharry, Ms. Pace will contribute to teaching, mentorship, and policy innovation efforts while supporting the School of Global Health’s strategic vision to educate and empower students to become global health leaders.
Ms. Pace earned her Master of Public Health in International Health and Human Rights from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and holds a bachelor’s degree with honors in Human Biology from Stanford University.
