Meharry School of Medicine BS and MD Program Sees Largest Cohort to Date

Meharry Medical College School of Medicine (MMCSOM) welcomes its largest BS/MD Program cohort participating in a six-week program that is committed to developing the next generation of physicians.

This year, 90 undergraduate students from 12 of our partnered HBCU institutions are participating in the program. The intent of the Meharry SOM’s BS/MD Program is to develop a student with excellent academic credentials, competitive MCAT scores, and the personal, professional, leadership, and psychological attributes to be highly competitive for medical school admission and provide a foundation for training to be a great physician.

“The BS/MD Program is not only an academic pipeline, but also a promise to nurture talented, mission-aligned students as they prepare to meet the health needs of underserved communities,” said Mitzy Johnson, Ed.D., Director of Special Programs. “Through this initiative, Meharry is building more than future medical students, it’s building the future of healthcare.”
