Meharry Medical Experts Spotlight Breast Cancer Awareness

Nashville, TN – Dr. Bolanle Asiyanbola, a board-certified surgical oncologist with Meharry Medical Group, and Dr. Damaris Olagundoye, Affiliate Site Director for Meharry Medical College’s OBGYN Residency Program, were featured as guest speakers on NewsChannel 5’s OpenLine on October 23 in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

During the segment, Dr. Asiyanbola and Dr. Olagundoye addressed a range of topics including breast cancer prevalence, healthcare disparities, and the importance of preventative lifestyle choices. Dr. Olagundoye, a breast cancer survivor, also shared her personal journey through her diagnosis and treatment, offering inspiration and insight into a disease that impacts one in eight women.

Dr. Asiyanbola provides surgical oncology care at several Nashville hospitals, including Nashville General Hospital at Meharry, Tristar Centennial Medical Center, and St. Thomas Midtown Hospital.
