Fourth-year Meharry Medical College student Rebecca Ekeanyanwu, MHS, recently attended the 2nd annual NEXUS Conference (Nurturing, EXcelling, and Unifying Sisters in Medicine), hosted by the Association of Black Gastroenterologists & Hepatologists (ABGH).
The conference brings together hundreds of Black women in medicine from across the country to collaborate, uplift, and celebrate one another. Ekeanyanwu served as a panelist for “Our Ancestors’ Wildest Dream, Through The Generations: Advice From 3 Generations of Women in Healthcare,” where she shared her journey into medicine, reflections on overcoming adversity, and the importance of mentorship.
“I attended the inaugural NEXUS conference last year and left feeling inspired. To return this year as a panelist was truly a dream come true,” she said. Currently applying to internal medicine residencies, Ekeanyanwu hopes to specialize in gastroenterology, continuing her passion for advancing representation and culturally competent care in medicine.
