2025-Alumni welcomed back to campus for an unforgettable Homecoming & Reunion

This May, Meharry Medical College welcomed alumni back to campus for an unforgettable Homecoming and Reunion that honored legacy, connection and the power of giving. The event, May 14–18, brought together graduates from across the decades for a week of celebration, reflection and generosity, culminating in a record-breaking fundraising milestone underscoring the enduring commitment of Meharrians to their alma mater.

As of May 30th, the reunion raised an impressive $1,278,350, marking one of the most successful Homecoming fundraising efforts in the institution’s history. This incredible achievement was made possible by enthusiastic participation from all reunion classes, with alumni contributing gifts of all sizes—each one a meaningful investment in the future of Meharry and its mission.

Among the many highlights, Dr. Albert Holloway, Class of 1975, made a remarkable impact with a generous estate gift that will help secure the College’s future for generations to come. His contribution exemplifies the lasting bond and legacy that Meharry inspires in its graduates.

Another milestone moment came as Dr. Charles McIntosh, Class of 1955, celebrated his 70th class reunion. His presence served as a powerful reminder of Meharry’s rich history and the lifelong connection its alumni feel to the institution.

This year’s reunion also spotlighted the strength of family ties within the Meharry community. Lauren Barton, M.D. ’80 and Brandon Barton, D.D.S. ’80 returned to celebrate their reunion. Dr. Brandon Barton, who also serves as a member of the Meharry Board of Trustees, continues to be a dedicated advocate and leader for the institution. Additionally, Jeanette Pope Ozimba, D.D.S. ’95 and Emmanuel Ozimba, M.D. ’95—another proud Meharrian couple—joined in the celebration, representing the Class of 1995 with enthusiasm and generosity.

The spirit of giving, unity and pride defined this year’s Homecoming and Reunion. From longtime supporters to first-time donors, every contribution helped strengthen Meharry’s foundation and advance its mission to serve the underserved through excellence in education, research and patient care.

We thank all who participated in making Homecoming 2025 a historic and heartwarming success. Your commitment keeps the Meharry legacy alive—and growing.
