Mission Statement

The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Management’s mission is to assist students in financing their graduate and health professional educational opportunities. We understand education may be one of the largest investments of your life.

The office is dedicated to supporting students in achieving their educational goals by providing access to financial resources and related services. We are committed to delivering accurate, user-friendly, responsive, and respectful assistance to students and their families. Our office administers federal, state, institutional, and scholarship programs in full compliance with applicable policies and regulations, while maintaining a forward-thinking and service-driven approach.

Statement Regarding One Big Beautiful Bill

Signed into law on July 4, 2025, the legislation introduces significant reforms to higher education policies and changes how students will finance their education. While it is still too early to fully understand the impact these changes will have on Meharry Medical College and its various programs, we are actively monitoring developments. As more information becomes available, we will continue to provide resources and support to assist our students through this transition.

Residency, Fellowship and Research Students

Graduates participating in residency, fellowship programs or research are not eligible to receive Title IV funds.

Students pursuing a certificate may be eligible to receive Title IV funding. Funding is contingent upon approval from the U. S. Department of Education to receive funding. To be eligible, the student cannot exceed the aggregate unsubsidized loan limit of $138,500.

Understand, students taking a year off from their program of study, for a research year, will not qualify for financial aid. Students will need to contact their preceptors for a stipend or funding opportunities.

FastChoice provices loan resources that may be helpful during times of financial need.

*Starting effective July 1, 2026, the new aggregate for graduate student loan limits will be $100,000.
