Welcome to the Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) at Meharry Medical College
The Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) at Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry is a federally funded initiative designed to support individuals from economically, educationally, and socially disadvantaged backgrounds who aspire to careers in health care.
Funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), HCOP provides structured academic preparation, mentorship, and professional exposure for students across multiple stages of the educational pipeline, including high school students, adult and veteran learners and college students.
Our HCOP programs

Pre-Matriculation Academy for High School Students
Early exposure to health careers through academic enrichment, test preparation, mentoring, and college readiness support.
Application Deadline: March 15, 2026

Adult, Non-Traditional & Veteran Student Program
Health-related training focused on administrative and patient service skills, including a Patient Service Representative (PSR) certificate.
Application Deadline: March 15, 2026

National Ambassadors Program (College Students)
A longitudinal enrichment program supporting undergraduate students preparing for medical, dental, and graduate health programs.
