Goals of the third- and fourth-year clinical dental students are to apply their course training in Meharry’s Pediatric Dentistry Clinic, where they receive hands-on experience providing:  

• Preventive services to include plaque control and patient/guardian education  

• Emergency treatment of pain and infection  

• Restoration of the primary and permanent teeth to proper form and function  

• Maintenance and/or restoration of dental arch space to achieve or maintain adequate esthetics and function  

• Recognition of malocclusion, with prioritization of preventive or interceptive treatments  

• Practical behavior management techniques
