The SACS Cybersecurity Research Center at Meharry Medical College’s School of Applied Computational Sciences (SACS) advances healthcare solutions through cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, twin technologies, immersive experiences, UAV-assisted healthcare and quantum computing.

Under Dean Fortune Mhlanga’s leadership, and the expertise of SAC faculty, MCAC combines interdisciplinary expertise with advanced computation to develop secure, scalable AI solutions for healthcare infrastructure and automation. The Center also addresses post-quantum security challenges to protect healthcare systems against emerging quantum computing threats. 

The Initiative also plays a critical role in shaping the future workforce through smart learning environments and emerging technologies. These efforts ensure that healthcare professionals are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to tackle tomorrow’s cybersecurity challenges, positioning the workforce to meet national priorities and global demands.

Meharry Medical College School of Applied Computational Sciences is proud to announce that Dr. Uttam Ghosh, professor of cybersecurity, and his team of co-investigators, Meharry SACS professors Dr. Sajid Hussain, Dr. Puspita Chatterjee, Dr. Asmah Muallem, and Dr. Lei Qian, have been awarded a significant grant through the Minority Serving – Cyberinfrastructure Consortium (MS-CC) Research Catalyst Program.
The Web of Science, a publisher-independent global citation database, has selected “Homomorphic Encryption-Based Privacy-Preserving Federated Learning in IoT-Enabled Healthcare System” as a Highly Cited Paper.
Uttam Ghosh, Ph.D., associate professor of cybersecurity, enjoyed a momentous IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC). During the five-day event, he received a Best Paper Award, chaired a session, and delivered a workshop keynote address.
