Salt Wagon Clinic services
We offer these free services:
- Free primary care visits with a physician
- Prescription medications and/or refills at no cost, for patients in need
- Diabetes and glucose testing
- Blood tests
- School, work, and sports physicals
First time visiting?
The Salt Wagon Clinic is on the second floor of the Pediatric Clinic at The Meharry Clinics located at 1818 Albion Street. When entering the front door of The Meharry Clinics, go past the registration desk and take the elevator on your right.
When you arrive, please wear a mask, bring a personal identification (driver’s license or state ID), and a form of insurance, IF you have them, to the front desk.
We welcome walk-ins, however, patients with appointments will be seen first.
Medications
Medications that can be provided at the time of visit include treatments for:
- Hypertension (lisinopril, losartan, metoprolol, hydrochlorothiazide, amlodipine)
- Arthritis (methotrexate, indomethacin, meloxicam, azathioprine)
- High cholesterol (atorvastatin)
- Asthma/COPD (albuterol)
- Hypothyroidism (levothyroxine)
- Diabetes (non-insulin, glucose-lowering agents, like metformin and glipizide)

Our Story
Salt Wagon Clinic at Meharry is a student-run, free clinic with faculty physicians at Meharry Medical College. We were founded by Meharry students and the United Neighborhoods Health Services clinic network.
