Mission
The Office of Institutional Research at Meharry Medical College is committed to helping advance the College’s mission of improving the health and well-being of underserved communities through excellence in education, research, and service. We deliver accurate, timely, and actionable data to support strategic planning, institutional effectiveness, accreditation, and continuous improvement. Our work is guided by strategic priorities that include:
- Enhancing student success and academic quality through data-informed decision-making.
- Supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives with robust analytics and reporting.
- Strengthening institutional accountability and transparency through providing accurate and timely information.
- Facilitating evidence-based planning and resource allocation in collaboration with EVP and Chief Operating Officer
- Promoting a culture of assessment and continuous improvement across all academic and administrative units in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment.

Tailored IR Functions
Promote data literacy and transparency across departments.
Data Stewardship & Integrity
- Maintain secure, accurate, and accessible institutional data systems.
- Ensure data quality to support compliance with federal, state, and accreditation requirements (e.g., LCME, SACSCOC).
Strategic Planning & Decision Support
- Provide data-driven insights to guide strategic initiatives such as health equity, community engagement, and workforce development.
- Support leadership in resource allocation, program expansion, and institutional growth.
Student Success & Retention Analytics
- Analyze enrollment, retention, and graduation trends with a focus on underrepresented populations.
- Provide predictive modeling to identify at-risk students and support intervention strategies.
Research & Grant Support
- Supply institutional data for grant proposals, research studies, and community health initiatives.
- Assist faculty and staff with data analysis and reporting for externally funded projects.
Survey Design & Institutional Feedback
- Administer and analyze surveys on student satisfaction, alumni outcomes, faculty engagement, and campus climate.
- Use feedback to inform policy, programming, and strategic priorities.
Accreditation & Compliance Reporting
- Coordinate data submissions for accrediting bodies (e.g., LCME, CODA, SACSCOC).
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to IPEDS, NIH, HRSA, and other regulatory agencies.
Data Visualization & Communication
- Develop dashboards and visual reports for executive leadership, board members, and campus stakeholders.
