Gina Lawrence is an accomplished manager with extensive experience across various areas of municipal government, progressing through increasingly responsible roles. A Kansas City, Mo., native, she is a proud graduate of Lincoln College Preparatory Academy. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff and a Master of Science in Public Administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She is also a Certified Public Manager, awarded by the KU Public Management Center.

As chief of operations for the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office, Lawrence manages the office’s budget, regulatory compliance, personnel policies, and state and federal grants. She serves as a key advisor on fiscal and regulatory matters. Her expertise has been shaped by leadership roles in various city and county management teams, including division manager for Kansas City’s Neighborhood and Housing Services, fiscal officer in the Neighborhood Services Department, and budget manager for the City of Dallas.

Continuing to broaden her expertise, Lawrence recently earned a second master’s degree in data science from Meharry Medical College. In recognition of her commitment to excellence, she was selected as a Beacon of Hope Fellow at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research in the summer of 2023. Dedicated to community engagement, Lawrence is also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
