Dr. Ashutosh Singhal’s research applies data science to clinical, basic and translational biomedical research to pursue improved patient care and health outcomes. He is chief data officer and associate vice president, clinical data stewardship for the Meharry Enterprise Data and Analytics Division. He is also assistant professor, biomedical data science, for Meharry SACS.
His overarching professional goal is to contribute to insights from complex data that will help lead to improving patient care for everyone. Dr. Singhal designs and implements an advanced infrastructure of tools for health care technology to support discovery efforts that integrate data from multiple and disparate sources such as electronic health records (EHR), in-silico biology, genomic technologies, medical devices, biosensors, social media and environmental.
Dr. Singhal works with students and external partners who enjoy the benefits of working in the nimble, small tech company setting of the EDA. Those projects include the following research areas.

- Developing data and artificial intelligence frameworks for health outcomes across populations
Prior to his current role, he served as director of medical research development and strategy for Meharry SACS and as medical research data scientist at Meharry’s Data Science Institute. He has also served as postdoctoral research associate at Meharry and the UNT Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas. He was also a senior research fellow at Central Drug Research Institute in Lucknow, India.
