The print collection consists of clinical handbooks and guidebooks, basic and advanced sciences review and board review books, and print flash cards which focus on study of basic and advanced sciences.

After business hours or on weekends, patrons may drop off loaned materials at the Information Desk on the library’s main floor with a note that they are returning them. Please include patron name, M number, and school.

Digital Resources
While the MMCL&A does provide print resources for loan to students and residents, librarians place a heavy focus on the provision of electronic resources which can maximize the utility and accessibility of information among its on- and off-campus users. The library provides subscribed online resources via its Digital Library to ensure its patrons always have access to its evidence-based resources for study, research, and point-of-care clinical endeavors.
The most well-known of these subscribed e-resources include:
- American Psychiatric Association’s PsychiatryOnline Premium collection of ebooks, journals and exam banks
- Elsevier’s ClinicalKey point-of-care tool and medical and dental ebook and journal collections, ScienceDirect journal collection, and Complete Anatomy licensed, 3D multimedia content

Remote Access to Resources Found on the Digital Library
To gain remote access to resources found on Digital Library landing page, users must maintain a valid Meharry email account and password which allow them to access the single sign-on process Meharry requires when using all of its sites. Email accounts are issued to individuals who have a direct faculty, student, or work role with Meharry—subscription-based contracts and vendor licenses involving the library’s electronic resources restrict use to such individuals.
Remote Access Instructions
- Visit the Digital Library site at https://meharry.ovidds.com
- Click on any resource button on the righthand side of the webpage or the “Off-Campus Login” button and input Meharry credentials when prompted
- Now authenticate you are a Meharrian using your device and you will have four hours of unrestricted access to content found on the Digital Library. Some platforms found there require a personal registration and log in with a Meharry email and a chosen password, whether on or off campus (see instructions below for guidance).
PLEASE NOTE: In some instances, users who access resources from off campus already will have completed the single sign-on process, such as when signing into college-sponsored platforms such as Blackboard or Workday before visiting the library’s landing page.
- Those users automatically have four-hour access to content found on the Digital Library and do not have to sign in by either clicking a resource button or the “Off-Campus Login” button.
- Once the initial four-hour access window is up, users can click any resource button on the Digital Library to engage in the single sign-on process again by inputting their Meharry username and password and then authenticating as a Meharrian using personal device(s).
- Others who must sign into a Meharry-issued laptop before using it also already have participated in Meharry’s single sign-on process and, thus, do not need to use the “Off-Campus Login” button to access most subscribed content found on the Digital Library.
- For specifics regarding a particular vendor’s required registration and sign-in for some of the individualized resources found on the Digital Library’s landing page, contact Reference Librarian Julia Drew Rather at jrather@mmc.edu or call (615) 327-6465 with questions.
