SACSCOC 2027 Reaffirmation
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) is the recognized institutional accrediting body in the eleven U.S. Southern states (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia) and in Latin America for those institutions of higher education that award associate, baccalaureate, masters or doctoral degrees.
Every 10 years, the college must reaffirm its accreditation with SACSCOC. The process begins approximately two years ahead of the reaffirmation deadline and includes extensive off-site and on-site reviews of the institution.
Components of the SACSCOC Reaffirmation
- Self-study – referred to as the Compliance Certification Report (CCR)
- Off-site review of the Compliance Certification Report
- Opportunity to respond to recommendations (Focused Report) from the off-site review
- On-site review
- Presentation of the QEP
- Visits to off-campus instructional sites
- Response to recommendations from on-site review (if required)
- Other follow-up or monitoring reports (if required)
- Reaffirmation decision by SACSCOC Board of Trustees
The college is currently in the process of preparing for its next 10-year reaffirmation in 2027.
Timeline
- Dec. 8-10: Orientation at SACSCOC Annual Meeting
- Individual Standard Team Briefings and Draft Development
- Assemble a QEP committee
- Narrative writing/review/edit
- QEP Topic Presentations/Survey
- Select QEP topic
- SACSCOC Annual Meeting ~ December 6 – 9, 2025 ~ Music City Center, Nashville, TN
- Draft QEP: begin campus outreach, continue writing
- Full Report review by consultant and MMC leadership
- Final Report Edits/Formatting
- September 8, 2026 – Deadline to submit CCR to SACSCOC
- Nov. 3-6 – Off-site review of CCR by SACSCOC
- QEP and Focused Report Due to SACSCOC – 6 weeks prior to on-site review
- March 8-11, 2027 On-Site Review
- Response Report to any recommendations from on-site review (if required)
- December – Reaffirmation decision determined and announced by SACSCOC Board of Trustees at the annual meeting
- March 2033 – QEP Impact Report due
SACSCOC Steering Committee
Scope:
- provide oversight and coordination of the compliance certification process;
- provide verbal or written updates on assigned section(s) to Steering Committee at each meeting;
- identify areas of concern relative to the Principles of Accreditation that should be addressed by the College;
- engage the College community in the process and provide updates of progress regarding the assigned working group;
- provide feedback, as requested, for the compliance report and for the QEP Impact Report;
- ensure that the compliance certificate is completed on time; and
- confirm the integrity of the process and the College’s responses.
