Three SACS graduates join Advancement Council

New Advancement Council members

Dean Fortune S. Mhlanga announces three graduates, Brittany City, Gina Lawrence, and Clarence White, Jr., Ph.D., as members of the Advancement Council for the School of Applied Computational Sciences.

“I am thrilled to announce these new Advancement Council members not only because they will add important insights from their professional experiences, but they are the first SACS graduates to join this important advisory group,” says Dean Mhlanga.

Brittany City, MSDS ’23 is a conversational AI engineer for Ticketmaster. She has also held previous roles as data scientist and data analyst at HP, Asurion and Vanderbilt University Medical Center. A passionate data scientist, she empowers individuals and businesses to leverage data and technology to make informed decisions and to achieve their goals.

Gina Lawrence, MSDS ’24 is an accomplished manager with extensive experience across various areas of municipal government, progressing through increasingly responsible roles. As chief of operations for the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office, she manages the office’s budget, regulatory compliance, personnel policies, and state and federal grants. She also serves as a key advisor on fiscal and regulatory matters. 

Dr. Clarence White, Jr., MSDS ’24 is an accomplished software development engineer and cybersecurity consultant with extensive experience in designing and implementing secure systems. With a strong foundation in cybersecurity, secure coding practices, and cloud security, Dr. White has played key roles in major organizations, including Amazon, PRA Health Sciences, Cisco, and DXC Technology.

The SACS Advancement Council includes computing and technology professionals who represent industry, business, government agencies, institutions of higher learning, data science leaders in several industries, and Meharry Medical College alumni. Their purpose is to provide advice, advocacy, guidance and support to the school.
