Dr. Qian to lead conference series on artificial intelligence and healthcare

Lei Qian, Ph.D., associate professor of computer science and data science, received a National Science Foundation grant to lead a conference series on artificial intelligence and healthcare.

The proposed conference series aims to break down barriers that prevent researchers from different fields — such as medicine, computer science and artificial intelligence — from working together effectively to improve health care through AI technology.

Lei Qian, Associate Professor of Computer Science and Data Science

“The conference will bring together researchers at varying levels of experience to explore using advanced computing and AI tools to address health disparities affecting underserved populations in the Southeast,” says Dr. Qian. “This is an issue that requires both technical innovation and deep understanding of healthcare challenges.”

Vibhuti Gupta, Ph.D., associate professor of computer science and data science, is a co-principal investigator. The project is titled “Collaborative Research: Conference: NAIRR Pilot Expansion: FA1: Mid-South Conferences on CyberInfrastructure Advances to Enable Interdisciplinary AI Research in Health.”
